Strange file from Facebook trying to open on my computer

Options
The past 2 days I have had a file appear on my screen when online that wants me to save or open it. The file says it's from Facebook, even though I'm not logged in to Facebook at the time. It seems to appear when I go to a new website - I've noticed it when on Marie Claire and Topcashback.

The file details are -

Name: login_status.php
Type: PHP File, 27 bytes
From: www.facebook.com

I've saved the file to my computer and scanned it for viruses but nothing has been found. The file always wants to open in Dreamweaver.

As this is only happening on my work computer I'm worried it's a bug. I've never downloaded anything onto this computer as we aren't allowed so I'm not sure whats happening so wondered if anyone knew what this is.

what anti virus program are you using?

on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

No we aren't allowed to install anything without permission on our work computers. I rarely use facebook and if I do only on my break so didn't want anyone to think that I sit on that all day long which is why I popped on here to see if anyone knew what it may be first.

So why don't you check with your IT dept?
Though I suspect that if they're using McAfee as their AV program on a commercial network then they'll be fairly clueless...

I've heard that McAfee is rubbish and that was from one of the IT people. I work at a University so would have thought they'd have used something decent but perhaps this is one of their many cut backs :o

Ooh, is McAfee rubbish then? That's what's used at my workplace too! Why is it rubbish?

Because it's very poor at detecting viruses. If you look at the people posting on here with infections, most of them seem to have McAfee, Norton, or AVG Free as their AV software.

I wouldnt say its very poor, its pretty good at detecting viruses. Its very poor at detecting malware, its firewall is very bad, it slows computers right down and conflicts with many programs

I wouldnt touch Mcrapee with a bargepole
