Thanks for your replies and yes of course we all have to put up with each other and with reasonable amounts of noise, but I was wondering if there were legal requirements related to insulation... I do like the idea of the vuvuzela :-), although it all depends on the type of people one is dealing with!!!
Also, that won't do anything when the washing machine is put on at night and my whole flat shakes when it spins...

I'll keep looking for information on the matter and I will post any useful website, if I find any :-)

I'm happy to report that the vuvuzela has had an incredible effect on those from hell with a dramatic reduction in the racket they make. If only I'd known about vuvuzelas years ago! I was amazed at the reaction during the world cup, I thought that they added to the atmosphere. I agree that it wouldn't work with all hellish types, I feel sorry that anyone should have to suffer the washing machine over night. I hope that you all find a resolution to the nightmare.
