Skips

Options
We hired a skip for this guy whos cleaning up our garden. We were supposed to pay on delivery, but the guy said it was alright, we could pay when they came to collect it. The skip got full up, we phoned them to come collect it and get us a new one, what do they say? No, wait another week. We told them, we don't have a fence att he moment, we broke it to put the skip in our garden. Anyone from the street can come in to our garden. He said, fine then, get another company. We'll collect it and thats the end of it. We dont need customers like you and then the **** put the phone down on us!!!!!

So we phoned another company, they sed theyll bring one round for Monday (today). Phoned the original company, they sed fine, well take ours back by Monday. Today, we phoned them and they said, well do it when we can. We asked them, can you even do it today? You told us you could. The guy sez it depends. Depends on what??

Now we have the upper hand, we havent paid. But we need the skip to be moved. Is it worth telling them that unless they move it today we wont pay? Or shall we phone the local coppers and ask them for advice? Or the council? Or just stick it out and wait? Cos after all, we have a builder just sitting there, unable to do anything, until the skip is cleared.

All comments appreciated.. Thanks in advance.

You could try ringing Consumer Direct or your local council to see what they say but I doubt that there is anything that the police will do - they will probably say that it is a civil matter.

  • How about...
Get a quote from the new company for removing the old skip.
Then inform the old company that you are arranging for their skip to be removed, at their cost. They will probably protest, so tell them they have until xx/xx to remove it.

It's your property, their equipment is on it. If they don't remove it, then you will.
