help! tv speakers squek and sqawk

my hitachi tv, has got gradually worse...
occasionally when we are watching the sounds starts to squeek and sqawk, sometimes louder than others, sometimes longer.
used to be able to turn the tv off leave for 5 mins at it would be ok.
sometimes it clears itself,
tried muting the sound, still get the sqawks
another annoying problem is it sometimes switches it self on and off 4/5 times before settling.......
any ideas.......
