Reception drinks for your guests?

Hi ladies (and gentlemen if any are reading!)!

If you're already married, or are planning your wedding and have already chosen drinks, could I pick your brains please?

What drinks did you have for your guests at your reception.

Did you have a welcome drink and if so what was/is it?

Did you have a drink with the meal and what was/is it?

Did you have nothing at all and your guests bought their own at the bar?

For those that had drinks, what quantity did you supply? ie, 1 glass, 2 glasses, half a bottle per guest etc...

Ta muchly! :D

We're having welcome drinks on arrival which will be a glass of bubbly per person

We're also circulating drinks with the canapes, to keep everyone occupied whilst we do photos. This will be a cask of beer and one of lager (approx 70pts to each cask and then around 10 bottles of wine.

Drinks with dinner will be half bottle of wine per person and a glass of bubbly per person.

We're having afternoon tea so it will be tea, coffee and orange juice. Considering a glass of bubbly for the toasts. not supplying drinks at the evening reception.

My cousin did at his evening reception and had pina coladas or long island iced tea, they were a bit strong, and didn't all get drunk, so while it was a nice gesture it seemed a bit sad that they were wasted.
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.

We had Buck's Fizz after the ceremony, one glass of wine with the meal, teas and coffees after the meal, and a glass of bubbly (cava not champagne, I prefer the cheap stuff anyway!) for the toast. We also put one glass of wine on the bar for every guest as the evening do began.

The BF, wine with dinner and wine in the evening was all included in the £35per head cost of the wedding breakfast. Can't remember how much the cava was off the top of my head I'm afraid.

    Hey Shellsuit!
We are having the same as bubbles!
Bucks fizz on arrival (or juice for non-drinkers)
Wine with meal (red or white)
    Sparkling wine for toasts

Hi, we're having a mix of drinks for the arrival drinks - possibly kir royale, pimms and (hopefully!) beer - allowing 1 1/2 drinks per person (not sure where the half comes in!)
Then for each table of 8 at the wedding breakfast, we're having 1 red and 2 white bottles of wine (except the top table which is having red, white and rose).
Then a glass of sparkling wine for the toasts.
Everything after that will be bought by the guests at the bar.
    Hope that helps!

Most weddings I have been at have included a welcome drink, a glass of wine with two top ups for the meal, and sometimes a further drink for the toast (of choice from the bar). Teas and coffees generally included in the price of the meal.

The last wedding I was at there was no drinks at all, you just bought what you wanted from the bar.

I was considering giving little tickets out, different colour for adults and children, and each person gets two, one for a drink of their choice after the ceremony, and one for a drink of their choice for the toast. Was also considering just asking for jugs of diluting juice on the tables for the kids. Not sure what I want to do yet!

I'm having a glass of buck's fizz or a mug of hot chocolate as a welcome drink. With Burnt Sugar fudge. yummm. 4 bottles of wine on each table, and a glass of sparkling wine for the toast.

I went to a wedding where in the 'function suite' there was a bar outside the wedding breakfast room so everyone was directed there, bought their own drinks and I never thought anything of it - it was perfect.

At another wedding there we had a drinks reception on the lawn with a Pimms cocktail or orange juice handed round by staff. It would feel different to go to the bar, buy a drink and return to the lawn, so I'm not sure that would work.

If you want your reception drinks fun, informal and mingling then let everyone get one themselves. If you want it 'proper' and uniformed provide one. If you want your reception in a separate area to the bar then you're slightly more obliged to provide a drink personally (which is why I'm serving one. There's a fab atrium and someone's got to use it!)
    I love surprises!
