We're getting married in 23rd sept 2011
our honeymoon has three critera to fit into
1. we must visit las vegas (his stipulation)
2. we must spend time chilling on a beach / water sports or other activities. (my stipulation)
3. we can go for around two weeks in total
ideas for destinations or itinery? has anyone else done this? and how do we go about booking something like this? We're quite flexible in departure dates

I have done a california/vegas road trip, it was great , we went to :
San Francisco (3 nights)
Yosemite (2 nights )
visiting rellies nr yosemite (2 nights)
monteray(1 night)
LA (2 nights)
san diego (3 nights)
Palm springs ( 3nights)
Grand Canyon (1 night
vegas (3nights)
We booked "open jaw" flight tickets, landing in sf and flying out of vegas. we picked up car at end of san fran stage and dropped off at beginning of vegas as we didn't need a car in either of these places! - look on here - www.kayak.co.uk
It is hard to say what I would cut out if I only had 2 weeks ! I loved the whole trip! It kinda makes sense to miss out san fran and yosemite , distance wise, but these were 2 of the best places!!
I guess I might do something like
LA (3nights ) - I didn't rate LA at all - but if you want to visit beach places and watersports (surfing?), may want to stay 3 or 4 nights. Universal is good tho - especially halloween horor nights whichshould be there when you are there) recommend the sheraton Universal city for a hotel
San Diego ( 4 nights) - love love love it here - lots to do! (recommend this hotel - http://www.halfmooninn.com
Palm Springs (3 nights) - to chill . We stayed at a really cute place that I would defo recommend for honeymoon- http://www.palmspringsrendezvous.com/
Vegas - 4 nights ( do a heli trip to GC to save time!) -for hotel i recommend ceasars palace if you can afford it, Paris if not
Feel free to ask any questions!!0 -

You could consider a much simpler option if you want more time to chill out - depends how much sightseeing you want to do.
Vegas/Mexico
Vegas/Hawaii
Both places offer fantastic beaches and are great for chilling out after the whirlwind that is Las Vegas. And both also offer sightseeing options if that's what you're looking for.
For example you can visit the Mayan ruins in Mexico, visit an active volcano in Hawaii and do things like swimming with dolphins in both resorts.
For such a special trip, I would go to a travel agents. Finally, debt free for the first time since I was 18!:DFirst baby born: 21/05/2014Second baby born: 04/03/20170 -

for our trip , which was 3 weeks in total (we had 2 nights at the Plaza in New York after california) - we spent about £8,000, including flights, accom, spends, loads of shopping. We didn't skimp on anything and had really nice meals out, decent hotels (and a v expensive hotel in new york!), bought quite a lot of stuff, etc. I reckon we could have done it for £6000 if we budgeted more, but this was a special holiday for us. so I guess for the 2 weeks I listed above, maybe £5000 if you aren't too extravagant!!0 -
not a honeymoon but i did multi trip in 2007 i think it was.
gatwick to vegas 4 nights at luxor, vegas to hawaii 7 nights waikiki beach hotel then 4 nights in san fran at holiday inn fishermans wharf.
not cheap but fantastic holiday only thing i would change is hotel in san fran holiday inn not the best when i went.
but it does all depend on your budget,i think it cost about £4500 for me and the missus plus spends and the usual chopper to grand canyon, visits to pearl harbour, alcatraz and all the normal sight seeing stuff.0 -

That sounds like a really good trip to me! Would love to do Hawaii - I think my parents stayed at that hotel and raved about it!0 -

We did Vegas and Mexico in April for our honeymoon. Booked my flights all through BA, then booked Vegas hotels direct with the hotels (Bellagio for 5 nights, Encore for 5 nights). Used the MSE Vegas thread to look out for offers and changed things around here and there to get best prices. Also booked direct with hotel in Mexico too (7 nights at Le Blanc).
We knew we wanted that specific Mexico hotel, but were flexible on how many nights in Vegas and in which hotels (we've been a few times before to Vegas so knew most strips hotels well enough).
We dabbled into travel agents etc at the beginning, but choice wasn't flexible enough, or price was too high to get us what we wanted.... booking ourselves was cheaper and I quite liked being in control of the plans with the flexible to move our Vegas hotels even up to the day before we arrived.....Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!0 -
We spent 5 days in Vegas, then got a 4 day stay at the White Stallion Ranch in Tuscon (a real cowboy ranch - a great activity break even for non horse riders like me), then 7 days chilling on a beach in Aruba. We did it at end of September as well. (Note that Aruba misses most of hurricanes - caribbean and September / October can spell hurricanes)
Flights UK-Vegas-Tuscon-Miami-Aruba-Miami-UK
Hotels: Bellagio(LV), White stallion ranch, Radisson (Aruba)
We ruled out Hawaii because of long flight times back - not what we wanted after being relaxed.
Quick tip - when in US make sure you ask if you can get an upgrade to "concierge level". usually means that you get free drink and food for a few hours a day - well worth it. Sometimes get for free if hotel quiet and you are on honeymoon.0
