Firefox constantly crashing.

Just wondered if anyone else has had this problem with firefox lately?
All was fine till they released 1.5.0.6 then every few pages it crashes, giving me the 'Firefox has encountered a problem' box, either that or it just closes with no warning.
I persevered thinking all would be solved with the release of 1.5.0.7 but it hasn't changed, it getting so bad I've started using IE (gasp) again.
I haven't changed the way I use it or any of the extensions I use, nor have I installed any new programs. I've tried a complete uninstall and reinstall as opposed to just updating, still no joy.
Anyone else getting this?

Snap. I've had the same problem. Never dawned on me it was a firefox problem. I'm thinking more of a motherboard or overheating problem. Will wait for more advice with you.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.

You could try Firefox 2beta2
It's very stable.
Just install Nightly Tools Tester immediately after and then you can make all your extensions work - so far I haven't found any that don't work after you've forced them to be compatible.
The only problem is that you'll have to use the default or another compatable theme. 1.5 Themes don't work well with 2.0

Thanks, I might give that a try, either that or go back to 1.5.0.4 until 2.0 final is released. Or maybe try Firefox portable, see if that changes anything.
By chance do you know when the final of 2.0 is scheduled for release?
Also, does 2.0 have a spell checker installed?Sigless0 -

When I first tried Beta 1, the US version had the spellchecker but the British one didn't have it yet.
I'm still using the US version so I'm not sure if the Brit one has caught up yet. I have to switch from Enhanced to Standard Interface for it to work on vbulletin forums - which is why my spelling here is still awful
One thing that does work very well is the anti-phishing. I've tried it a few times when I've got a phishing email and it almost always catches them - despite the fact they're only using a partial list of sites in the beta versions0 -
Thanks, I think I'll give the beta2 a try then. Hope it has an English spell checker now lol.Sigless0

Okay probably a stupid question but how to I access the spell check in 2.0 beta? I've installed it but can't see any referance to a spell checker.Sigless0
