paypal resolution centre - claim granted

I claimed because i was scammed buy some one and i paid them via paypal. Paypal looked at my case and it says "claim granted".

the message on paypal is:

We have completed our investigation of this case. We attempted to process a refund from the seller's account to your account. Unfortunately, the seller's account does not contain the funds necessary to cover this refund. We were able to recover £0.00 GBP. We have taken action against the seller and are working to recover the remainder of your refund. We will contact you when we have more information. No further action is required of you at this time.

This has been like this for about 20 days since the claim was granted. Do you think i will ever get my money back? or atleast some of it? the seller was not a protected seller.

Does paypal's message mean they will get my money?

I think it means that if they continue to use this account and get some funds into it, you'll get your cash.

If they never use it again, you get nowt.
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

if your payment was backed by a credit card then claim off your CC company.

  • On one case I eventually got payment (a massive £2.50!) over a year after the claim was investigated and settled in my favour. You just have to wait uintil the seller has money in their account.
  • For those unwilling to wait that long, or for significant amounts of money, I'd recommend Soolin's solution!

If you win a paypal claim paypal transfers funds from the sellers account to yours. If the seller has no funds then for the seller to continue to operate with ebay and paypal, sending and recieving money, then he/she has to transfer funds into their account to repay those who filed the claim.

Alternatively they can jus not do that so you do get their money back.

The paypal resolution centre is dreadful anyway. Some filed a claim agaisnt me saying they bought the guitar from me by accident believing it to be something different and more valuable.

The literally won the case by proving it wasnt what they thought it was. So thats like me buying a car then saying damn, i thought it was a house, then paypal asked them to get a written letter to prove it was a car and not a house :| thats what literally happened between two competely different types of guitar, despite me selling one clearly listed correctly.
  • I think that if I sell anything of value it'll be bank transfer or cash. Anything else is too easy to lose out with. Nothings guaranteed safe but is does slow the B*****s down a lot. If we all started to do this maybe Paypoo will get the message and clean up their act.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
  • Remember you're not allowed to ask for cash unless they're collecting

    I don't understand why ac24 hasn't got a full refund

I've heard of people's accounts going into a minus balance when they've been forced to refund, so why didn't they do that with ac24's seller's account?

That might be where the seller has buyer protection. In those cases you are guaranteed a refund... but paypal are going to take it from somewhere...
