Motor Insurance - refund for settled claim?

I had a motor insurance policy with Quinn until September last year.
Since then, a claim I had from before I was with them has been settled so I forwarded my updated no claims certificate to them. They have agreed to issue me with an updated one to forward to my current insurer.

As the premium I paid Quinn reflected my outstanding claim, which has now been settled in my favour, am I due a refund from Quinn? I think I am (i.e. the difference between the premium I paid and the premium I would have paid if my no claims was intact), but they disagree.

I am corresponding with them by email as they are so rude on the phone that I can't bear to speak to them anymore, and they just keep replying with "we can confirm that no refund is due"

Am I barking up the wrong tree completely?

Are you absolutely certain of this?
Do you have evidence of quotes taken with and without the claim?
and they just keep replying with "we can confirm that no refund is due"

Are you certain they charged you extra for the claim?
    Do you have evidence?
Or are you just assuming that?

We had a similar experience (but no rudeness) and it was explained to us that we were never charged extra.
Do you know you were charged extra? or are you just assuming you were?
  • Oh, I'm just assuming because I would have paid a premium based on 1 years NCB, but the settled claim makes 5 years NCB.

I suppose I need to ask them that then, thank you!

I think we are talking at cross purposes.

    You are talking about NCD.
What have you lost 4 years NCD for 1 accident?

I was referring to the loading (extra premium) you sometimes get when you've had a claim.

Yes, a higher NCD would give you bigger discount but I thought it was 2 years for 1 accident.
