One of my friends gave me an iPhone 3GS (16GB) as present. This phone was bought off ebay and I had used it for few months until I went to cinema one day and realised that I lost the phone.
This matter was reported to police and I claimed through LifeStyle Group as my bank gave me free insurance with my bank account.
After sending claim form in I was asked to provide proof of purchase. In this case I provided LifeStyle Group with copy of paypal receipt off my friend who bought and gave me phone as present and a letter from him confirming that he gave me the phone as present.
LifeStyle Group first denied receiving forms as such and later they come back to me advising that I need to send them proof confirming the make, model and IMEI number of the phone which will be a letter from network provider.
I was using this phone on T-Mobile network on a Pay As you Go. When I contacted T-Mobile said they cant provide me with this letter as the phone was not on a monthly contract and not issued by T-Mobile. Apple said same thing. My friend tried contacting the seller on ebay who was not of great help. Now last thing left is contacting O2 asking them if they can provide us with that as the iPhone was originally on O2 network.
But all I dont understand is do I really have to provide LSG with proof confirming the make, model and IMEI number of the phone? If so then how can I overcome this hurdle? This matter is going on since June this yr
Please help !!!!!!

Um - yes? Would you give someone hundreds of pounds without them being able to prove some basic details such as the IMEI number of the phone?
Think you might need to treat this as a cautionary learning experience and move on...0 -
I have provided them with the IMEI number while registration of my phone and I have the IMEI number but they need a letter from network provider confirming the IMEI number and make and model of the phone.

See If you can help?
Doubt the original network will be willing to help seeing as the phone was resold.0 -
If the Original Network Provider Doesnt provide me with the letter and my existing network provider who have said NO already then this means there's no way of claiming a phone which is bought off ebay? Even though I have provided them the proof of purchase?
Worst thing is that insurance ppl dont mention these things when they want your money and when it comes to time of them paying out they ask for these things. :mad:0 -
Any update on this claim? I am in a similar situation, and wondering how to proceed?0

LSG finally written back saying they will reject my claim saying:
“You must provide proof of purchase for the phone and accessories with your claim form. Please refer to your Terms and Conditions.”
Funny enough they have been provided with receipt from ebay and paypal but yet they claim proof of purchase not provided.
Any help for my appeal is hugely appreciated0 -
Im in a similar situation with LSG - let me know how it goes - they have asked me to get a letter from Tesco (my sim card provider) showing record of usage for the sim which should show what phone (ie what IMEI number) has been used, so hoping that comes through from Tesco or else Im stuffed.0
