I was wandering if anyone out there knows where I could get reasonably priced travel insurance for myself, I've got type 1 diabetes, had it for 14 years now, had no hospitalisation or problems since I had my son 4 years ago.
We haven't travelled abroad for just over 4 years now so feel a bit out of touch with it! But now the kids are getting older we have braved booking a week in Ibiza next May. In the past I have used Boots and Asda who have both accepted me, just wanted to know if there any others I can try.
Many thanks in advance!

You`re lucky that`s all it is. I have a daughter with DiGeorge syndrome and another with vasculitis and specialist insurance company always charge the earth.
Try columbus direct. We`ve used them in the last few months as we were going to Jamaica and the usual insurance companies were charging the earth. My daughter with the vasculitis has just been quoted £13 for Europe and some insurance companies were charging £25. They charged £35 for Jamaica so I think £13 is reasonable.
Direct Line may be ok for Europe.0 -
Try Endsleigh. http://www.endsleigh.co.uk/Travel/Pages/Home.aspx
They don't expressly exclude pre-existing conditions. Look at page three of their policy and see if you qualify.42 years of experience in the insurance industry.
And nothing the industry tries do to us surprises me any more!0 -
I can recommend a website. Its run by a Type 1 Diabetic and they offer 10% off World First policies for UK residents, theres also some good free travel advice on there too its diabetictravelinsurance.com. Hope that helps0

My now 20 yr old son has type 1. I found that I could use comparison sites - some wanted more info, but some weren't overly concerned. I have used Halifax insurance services and Fortis ( I think through Diabetes UK)in the past- always annual policies. We now have annual travel insurance as an add on to our house insurance - very reasonable premium too. That may be worth exploring.
In fact, you may find an annual family policy a worthwhile investment, especially if you take your next foreign trip within the 12 months!0
