I have received a call from a 'media company' who reckons for a monthly fee I could have an ad on peoples' Facebook page.
Not only that, but they would be over 50 and within 15 miles from my firm - ie my target customers.
I don't use Facebook, but I am naturally suspicious that this is a scam. Anyone heard of this?

It may be suspicious and I'd rather buy direct from Facebook instead.0

The first thing to do before even contemplating advertising is to get a business page on Facebook. It is totally free so why pay for advertising at this stage? Plus an ad campaign on FB may (although perhaps not always) be best when directed at your FB page.
I've just started a page which is ticking along at 10 new members a day for free. FB want 72p per click on an advert and as that is clicks not a confirmed member if we say 50% conversion (that's a pure guess) that's £1.44 a new member.
Alternatively teens are one of my target markets, by sending 3 emails I've got invited to 3 freshers fairs, one is for 500+ students and is totally free and the other is 300 students for £35 of giveaways. Much more time consuming but I get to engage face to face with 800 of my target market for £35. If I chucked that money at FB I might get 25 people join my page.
Gawd I sound like a luddite!0 -
Thank you for your replies. Seems Facebook does present opportunities if done properly. Guess I need to look into this a bit more.0
