foned up bank they said i had to go into the branch to find out more
so monday went to bank & the woman behind desk foned through people who deals with atm transcations & was told yes at 12.51 on friday that the amount was taken from atm machine
at the time the money was taken i was 1 mile away in town centre sorting out contract fone
but was told that as it was my card then it had to been someone who had acceess to card that was in my purse
& as they never had any other complaints then it couldnt have been clonned
the atm is from a different bank anyway
went back on tuesday said i wasnt happy wanted it looked more into which i need to proivde a crime number from police so off to police station i went & got log number
police said not much they can do & bank aint interested
they didnt even offer to change card
this is makin me ill & worried sick
only people to acceess to card is me & my 2 sons
only thing i did do was change pin number
so no one knows it
so do i go through with it to end or just write it off?

Hi!
Sorry to hear about trouble. I'm not sure what really to advise, but this is probably what I would do in that situation.
When your card is stolen etc you normally phone the bank/building society to inform them and I assume they freeze your account in some shape or form. I'm not sure whether you can claim to have your card stolen, but I'm sure there is some way your bank can ensure that no more money is lifted from your account.
Certainly try and get as much information out of the bank as you can - probably calling to the branch and asking to speak to the manager (if you need to) to try and get some resolution to it. The concern would be that if someone has access to your account they could potential withdraw more money at some stage. It may be that the bank will not refund the money (probably unlikely), but at least you will get peace of mind.0 -
formally complain to the bank that you have been subject to fraud - unless they can reasonably prove that you are responsible for the loss, then the bank will need to repay you. Your maximum loss is £50. Any arguement suggest they read the Banking Code

thanks for the replies
have triple checked with other card holder ( my mum ) & said no wasnt her
have chatted again with halifax but saying same thing
i have changed the pin & fingers crossed wount happen again
but my arguement was the atm that was used was hsbc so if there is a prob with atm machine halifax wount know???
but the nice woman foned through to who ever to check when money was taken & i wasnt there
but my mum wants to drop it makin me ill & stressed
so hopfully as pin been changed on both cards it wount happen again
here is a question if anyone can answer......
if the card has been cloned & if its tries to get used again would that affect the new pin? if they try 3x
hope u can under stand question

Don't give up.
If the bank insists that it is your card that was used do draw £100, then the card was clonned. Even if the cllonned card cannot be used in ATMs after changing PIN, it can be used for purchases. Cancel your card and ask for a replacement. Insist that it was fraud and demand a refund from the bank as advised above. If your branch refuses to refund the money, complain in writing: Complaints
