Nothing to offer you op, could be many things, the garage should be able to pin it down though.
Now knife in the guts time, where are all the ford focus fan club members when one of there's goes wrong :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Take it to another garage. If they are having problems diagnosing, never mind fixing, such a bread and butter car then they are clueless.0

money on the lambda sensor here. Get it to a proper garage with the live-data reader kit, job done.
Best damn thing I ever bought for my vauxhall, haha.0 -

Post up all the emission figures if you have them.0 -
When will garages learn that electronic diagnositcs is not just about waiting for a lamp to come on and getting a fault code out of it. As stated above they need to read the live data so they can see exactly how the sensors are behaving.
I would check the simple stuff though, when was it last serviced? Are the plugs in good condition? Is the air filter blocked?0 -
Try using a premium fuel, they usually lower the emissions.0

Most probably the oxygen sensor, or a problem with the MAF sensor. I doubt it would be youre cat unless you have seen wot looks like candy floss hanging out of your exhaust! Or even youre exhaust could be blowing somewhere. It should be a quick relatively cheap fix, once identified.0
