Online VAT form submission - not impressed

Options
I''ve just attempted to submit my VAT return online, the second quarter I've done this, having previously submitted paper returns for several years. Being on the flat rate scheme, my previous paper return took 2 minutes to complete, including writing out a cheque and sticking the form in the envelope.

Now, I've had to submit online, the process 'hangs' and chucks out an error message. Now the return is 'Pending' which apparently means it may have gone through, or it may not, it's my duty to check that it goes through.

This is supposed to be progress............... I don't think so.

We've been using on line returns for a good couple of years now.

We found it very easy - it's essentially the same fields on screen as the fields that we used to fill in on paper.

We haven't ever had any issues with submitting. Looks like you've just been unlucky on your second attempt.

Same here, I've been using it for a number of years and never a problem. Maybe it is busy today and everyone is getting them in before the bank holiday,
