Car Insurance - Proof of no claims

Hope someone can help

I didn't produce evidence of 4 years no claims last year, so my renewal notice only says one year no claims.

I renewed insurance a few weeks ago, and sent off the two renewal notices. There are no gaps in the dates. I've had a letter back saying they can only give me one year. I called them and they said they can only take the most recent letter into account. Surely I've provided proof of five years no claims as requested?

The company is esure if that's relevant.

I would get on the phone and speak to someone.
It's possible they could think you lost your no claims.

I would try to speak to someone more senior.

The call handler refused to pass me on to someone else - he agreed I had proof of five years but said they couldn't accept it!
  • Its right but you can go back to your previous company provide the evidence of the bonus you had prior to them and see if they will issue a new proof of NCD showing the 5 years that you can then take to your new company.

Esure have given me until Monday to either cancel or pay the difference (£55 to cancel and £209 to pay). I might try one more phone call (these callcentres make me lose the will to live) and if no joy go back to Co-op (previous insurers) and ask them if they will consider including prior no claims.

and I though proof was proof

Are there any gaps with the dates in the renewal notices? If not, then call back Esure and insist they accept the 5 yrs, if they still refuse stay on the line until you can speak to a manager and insist that they make the change - keep on and on at them, sheer persistance will normall wear them down, do it around lunch time as they will then be eager to go to lunch and may agree just to get off the phone...

Called them back and got a very helpful advisor who told me that as long as the two letters had no gaps then my four years no claims bonus would be recognised.
