Anyone got or fitted one of these??
Unlike most roller doors that are articulated, these seem to be a single corrugated skin that wraps or bends around the roller when opening.
Reliability? Unsure, but does have 10 yr mechanical waranty.
Any views/exp???

Thanks, but after a week of trying to figure out how to make the best of a massive !!!! up by the builder, we havs gone for a retractable door that can be fitted at the front of the massive 400mm piers he has built :mad::mad::mad:, not aimed in your direction;):TI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

I have roller shutter garage doors, not sure if that's what you mean, they must be about 20yrs old now, about 15yrs ago we had them converted from manual to electric 'cos my Mum had started to find them a bit heavy to lift.
It's a double garage so we have two doors, one has never been any trouble , the other a long time ago one of the slats became loose and slipped sideways so caught on the wall. At the time i phoned around but couldn't get anyone to do what was only a small job, people promised and never turned up. I did a botched-up job and it's worked but always been noisy since. Last year this noisy one broke and was stuck half way down, At the top, on the end of the roller was a sort of round steel bar bar which has sheared off. I only have one vehicle now so decided once i got the garage shut and the door safely holding to leave things for the time being. But sometime in the future will have to sort out a proper repair.
But overall we've been pleased, there was once the power went off and we were stuck (until i put a shilling in the meter).Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Damn these builders and their piers (built to BS 8103-2:2005, figure A3 which calls for piers with a minimum size of 390mmx190mm or 327mmx215mm, depending on the size of the masonry units, the sole purpose of which is to stop the garage from falling down)
Exactly, you end up with about 200mm lost off the length of the garage due to a 300mm catnic over the door :mad:. (and about 50 bricks to support over it)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Not quite, the piers add stability to the walls, and stops them falling down. It is just incidental that they provide a handy place to put a Catnic lintel.0 -
Not in this case, the catnic could have gone directly into the existing house cavity wall with so little load on top. (It's a garage built on to the side). The outer side is 300mm cavity wall with no recess or step, ie 300mm frrom one end to the other.
The only reason I can think that it's done like this is so the garage/kitchen/utility can have a 2nd storey built over later?, not something that was actually requested, so ??I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Hi,
We have a glideroll garage door which we installed on our garage when we built it about 12 years ago. We have not had any problems what so ever with this door.
If it is any help we bought ours direct form Glideroll and they sent it direct to us with their own truck (live in Scotland) so customer
service is really good.
Hope this helps0 -
Thanks louise, but as said I have discounted the roller door option for the reasons stated, good to hear yours is fine :money:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
