Hi
Just wondering how people have closed their egg savings account?
My 3.25% has matured and I've transferred everything out, leaving a zero balance.
Do I just request through their secure messaging?

I don't use the Egg savings account, but most banks require either written confirmation or speaking to an advisor through telephone banking before they'll close an account.0

Yes, I did it via secure messaging and they closed the account within 24 hours, transferring the last few pence of interest via BACS to my current account.0 -

As Mark states. I transferred out the balance, leaving a displayed zero, then sent a secure message requesting closure, obviously with the account type and number. The interest was then transferred, by them to linked account.
The secure message reply was very quick and on a Sunday if I remember correctly!0 -
I closed three accounts (on three separate occasions) and they were all dealt with the same day. It makes a change to get some good service from a bank.MarkFromMullion wrote: »Yes, I did it via secure messaging and they closed the account within 24 hours, transferring the last few pence of interest via BACS to my current account.Stompa0 -

Same here. Egg are excellent and ideal for my needs.
RBS and Natwest are a joke in comparison. All i get back from them is a email saying they cant discuss my account online please telephone us. I reminded them i signed up for online banking not telephone banking.0 -
Mine matures too in four days. Ive emailed them asking if they are going to offer any incentive for me to leave my money with them , also asking if I DID decide to still stay with them whether I could close the present account and immediately open another with the present bonus offer to new customers, or whether they would consider just moving me across! Well, no harm in asking !!0

Well, the reply was officially No, no and no, but I guess that I must be able to close the account and have the funds sent to one online bank, fast payment it to another I have and then send it back to Egg , New customer, new money.0

Thanks for the replies. Think I'll message them tomorrow.
Shame to have to leave egg, as I like many others, regard their service / functionalilty of account was second to none.
Only down side was no FPs out, but hey, it is a saving account I guess.0
