hi
im a fulltime student nurse, and my OH has been inspired by me (LOL or so i like to think!!) to return to college, on top of working, to gain qualified status as an auto electrician. now he already works as one, but unqualified, and his work are umming and arring about whether or not they are paying.
TBH i dont really care if they do or dont; if they pay it will mean he has to sign a contract to stay with them for so long afterwards.
his bill arrived today and its 419 pounds
whats the best way to pay? we dont exactly have a lot of spare cash at the mo as we are getting married in 4 weeks, parents are paying but we have still ended up paying for bits and bats and no savings or spare money left now.
im thinking credit card.... then if we get some wedding money pay it off? also i was in a car crash 2 weeks ago and was injured, maybe if i get some money back for that (dont know either way yet not really up on what happens next) we could pay it off
just thought some1 might have some advice, do colleges let you spread payments? its at huddersfield technical college

I cant speak for colleges, but I know that my university allows you to spread the payment over two instalments. Givt hem a call, i'm sure that it wont be a problem.Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

If there is a seperate finance office call them directly as they will be more understanding and do what they can. If you have a student overdraft it may be easier to get an increase instead of a credit card, you may avoid interest and have a constant reminder (lower balance) that you need to pay the money back instead of a monthly statement.
Your OH may be eligible for a career development loan, he would be able to apply to borrow up to 80% of his course fees assuming the course is covered, the CDLs are for people currently in work looking to improve their skills as opposed to the grants given to people out of work. It would be worth looking around the Direct Gov site as there are other funding possibilities he might be elegible for.
