Do you really require only instant access accounts or are you willing to wait a few days for a BACS transfer instead of requiring instant access from an ATM or over the counter?

Another £14000 in two more Lloyda Vantage accounts is a good place to start if you can get them. After that the best no-notice savings rate available at the moment is 2.8% with the AA. There's a good article about savings accounts on the main site though.

Are you looking for savings, investments or a blend of both? Because you talk about having money 'waiting to be invested', but the two are mutually exclusive :)

£100k strikes me as a lot to have in cash savings, as inflation will damage your return a lot quicker than a mix of savings and investments (assuming your investments outperform inflation).
  • instant access i mean not locked, can be within 7-10 days no problem

i tend to invest in property but because of the market i am holding off until i get an amazing deal.

another 5 lloyds accounts sorted me and mrs

thanks for that didn't know about the three

i like the AA route but was looking for some more than 3%
  • OK here is where we are

    1000 - 3 x Halifax Rewards total investment 1000 - income £15 per month
    10000 - 4 x santander current account 5%
    42000 - 6 x lloyds tsb 4%

    Total 53000

any ideas left for the 47000

It doesn't strike you that you're being a teensy bit lazy hiitsme? There is a good article about this on the main site.

You can do a bit better than what you have above: the £1000 only needs to be in the account for a tenth of a second, so you can send £1000 from outside Halifax round the accounts by Faster Payments/internal transfers in a few minutes once a month.
  • Why not put some of it in funds which have a good history of high performance e.g. 5%+ and the rest in the above instant access accounts? Also personally iwouldnt bother opening loads of different ones just find the one highest paying account e.g. AA/ING.
  • MY wife would agree with you, i am lazy.. any chance of the link to the artice

There's one at the top of the page: hover over Banking/Saving and click Top Savings Accounts. It's actually easier than asking us for help.
  • To make things really easy, send me the money and I'll open all the accounts for you.:D
