It is delicious when I use it in my triple chocolate gooey brownies, also in chocolate victoria sponges and chocolate butter icing - I have noticed no difference in the taste at all!
  • I use it a lot as well though the speed my kids shovel cake down I doubt they would taste it no matter what I use:rotfl:

I also use a lot, and have always been a Bournville Cocoa fan, but it's shot up to over £2.18 a tub.

Last month I tried Te$cos own brand , £1.48 for 250g which I found to be quite a different shade of brown, and also lacked a bit of depth but when it's going into puddings and brownies, I don't think most people would notice.

If everyone agrees that the value brand is acceptable, I think I might give it a go too. Be interested to see what a few others think :)

  • I use the Tesco value brand of cocoa in baking and I have found it quite good. I think it is probably worth you buying one box and seeing what you think of it. It is just cocoa not cocoa and sugar like a lot of the drinking chocolates are. I found it needed less sieving than the own brand cocoa and actually prefer it now to Tesco's own brand.
  • Ooh this looks like a new product, will certainly try it when my cocoa runs out. I've always through cocoa was a bit expensive so nice to see value option available. Would be interested to hear people's thoughts on how it compares. Cait x
  • I tried the Tesco Value Cocoa in a low fat chocolate cake, I made it previously with an expensive cocoa powder I had in the cupboard and no one has noticed a difference! I would highly recomend it and won't be buying expensive stuff again!

    Weeze x
