    Time limits...

    A statement of reasons (for JSA) must be requested within one month of the decision being notified to you (there is no time limit for HB/CTB).

    A request for revision (aka "reconsideration") or an appeal must be made within one month of the decision being notified to you; OR (for an appeal) within 14 days of the statement of reasons.

    The time limits for requesting revisions / appealing can be extended by a further 12 months but only if you have good reasons for making a late request and, for an appeal, if it is in the interests of justice.

    What if you haven't been notified? Until / unless you are notified, any purported decision is of no legal effect and the time limits don't start until notification has been made.

    {Edited to clarify the "14-day" rule}

    thanks everyone for your input
    and dookar I see what you mean. I think that would be the best course of action. I really not sure though how long my claim has been in this status for, the answer I got on the phone was basically visit your local job centre in the morning. To be fair though it was the end of the day and the guy may of had a right rough day. At least now I have a bit of an idea how to go about things in the morning!

    Yeah, the guy on the phone was right. You need to contact the jobcentre and ask for a detailed explanation of your sanction. They will give you an appointment.
