Not sure if it's the place to ask. But been playing this for about a month and a bit now. Trying to learn a bit as I go
My question is, how do you go from 10k to have about 12mill?
The top learner has done this and I just can't work out what type of shares would give you such a big return. I'm looking at the shares he/she brought. But from what I can tell the money came in from what looks like a bug.
Renewable Power & Light were brought at 0.0175 and couple of months later sold at 750.0000
Hmmm.

Buy oil and gas tiddlers.
If they hit oil, you're minted (see rockhopper exploration shareprice chart)
If they don't, bye bye money (see tower resources)0 -
I don't know how the game works but does it let you buy and sell minute by minute?
The only time I tried one of these games it allowed that but the prices were delayed 15 minutes. Eventually I realised the leaders were using real time prices so in the game they knew what would happen to the share price over the next 15 minutes. As you can imagine stupid sums of money were made.
Maybe that single share you are looking at was bought & sold hundreds of times a day.
If only the real thing was that easy.0 -
Hmm, not sure, maybe they were doing that. But does seem to update minute by minute I think. As I refresh my portfolio the prices do seem to change.0

Yes it will update minute by minute, but each of those minutes will likely be what happened 15 minutes ago. Look on most pricing web sites and you will see a note to that effect. Even as a customer of a cheap broker they will typically show you the price 15 minutes ago and only display the real price when you send a buy/sell instruction at which point you normally have 10 seconds to decide whether to go ahead with it.0

Hi,
It does update minute by minute and follows the stock markets instantly as they update. the stokmarkets have a 15 minute delay and so in turn, the fantasy trader does. basically, if you make a profit on the trader, you would have made a profit in real life.
There are no bugs in it, it can be very hard to make a profit but if you go for the high risk shares, you stand to make a lot of money!
im going for number 1 spot!!!!

I don't think people are getting my point.
If you are willing to pay for the information you can get share prices without the 15 minute delay. So for example say I saw a stock rise in real time. Now what is preventing me from logging on to Fantasy Share Trader and buying lots of shares in it? 15 minutes later and abracadabra I make a nice profit.
Obviously this does not happen in real life as real time prices are always used for the trades, and maybe they do in this game, I don't know I haven't looked. All I am saying is this might explain how people can make such outlandish profits in the leaderboard0 -

The Halifax Fantasy Trader does not seem to include the possibility of share consolidation. What seems to have happened in the case of the current leader is that there was a 1 to 100,000 share consolidation, but the website does keep the number of shares constant while increasing the price instead of reducing the number of shares accordingly.
The case of the leader is only the most obvious one - if you look, for example, at the portfolio of the present number 60 (nedmoreredmore), all his shares (he only has three companies in his portfolio and has not touched it since Nov 09) have lost rather massively over the last 10 months, but his portfolio has doubled in value according to the Halifax Fantasy Trader. The reason, as far as I can see, is that one of the shares (Inchcape) has had a 1 to 10 share consolidation in May. Again, the Fantasy Trader site simply assumed the shares have a ten times higher value, but the numbers have not been reduced.
Gives the name Fantasy Trader a completely new meaning!
And it also enhances ones trust into Halifax websites ...;)0 -

Why dont you try it and find out?0 -
Buy some shares in a company called Stream Oil & Gas at 0.12 a share. Sell them just after 8:30am for 0.61 Monday morning :j But you only have half an hour to do this before they go right down again.
I'd bought penny shares with my 10k at 1k each company...yeah most bombed, but some went through the roof. When I turned 10k to 35K I was over the moon...I was jumping around when I turned that into 175k in a couple of days....I thought I've got to get started for real.
Unfortunately there's a glitch in the system with some shares...which I wasn't best pleased to find out. If you check ADVFN.com you'll see that the share price is currently at 0.61 Stream Oil & Gas now and not 0.12 as in the fantasy share index.
When I queried this with the halifax dealing team they were not aware of the price difference and to be honest weren't bothered. They did however mentioned the shares I bought were "Auction Shares".
Oh and most of the shares you can trade in fantasy you can't touch in the live halifax system anyway.
To be fair....now that I know this I'll probably do the rounds again, but only trade in those stocks I know can be traded in the live system.
So there is your answer to how someone can go from 10k to 30 Million on Halifax Fantasy Share Trader...oh and next week I hope to be 200 Million. In fact I hope to be 1 billion very soon LOL.
Take care guys and sorry if this wasn't the answer you wanted.
I've also now made my portfolio public so you can see for yourself.
