Direct Debit Guarantee?

Options
I am wondering whether the direct debit guarantee covers unpaid charges?

I get paid at the end of the month and all my direct debits come out on the 9th. Plenty of time.

I have moved house and Virgin were sending me a final bill. They did not contact me or arrange to amend the direct debit date so it came out earlier. The 26th, there was no money to cover this,
I did not arrange or agree to pay any earlier than normal.

Please help me

Basically if there is a change to the amount paid or the payment date the company taking the payments must inform the customer beforehand of the change You need to talk to your bank who should reverse the amount paid at which point you will still owe Virgin the final bill and you will need to talk to them to discuss payment

You will need to claim from your bank for the consequential loss you have suffered they should theoretically claim this back from Virgin.
