Just got a new iphone, couple questions about it...

Options
Heya, for those of you who have an iPhone (3GS) could you answer a couple queries for me please?

- Does it receive picture messages? My friend tried sending me one today but it wouldnt come through? I didnt have the best amount of signal so whether it could be this?

- When you're out and about, do you have to be connected to wi-fi to use internet accessed applications? My old phone could access the internet anywhere as long as I had good signal, sometimes the iPhone doesnt want to connect?

Otherwise am loving the iPhone.

Cheers

My 3GS iphone definitely receives picture messages, my daughter sent pictures of my granddaughter.

I've never had problems on the internet when out and about, I think the phone uses 3G rather than wi fi.

Someone more knowledgeable will probably be along soon.

They are a fantastic phone, good luck.

Just about every mobile phone going can do MMS, if your's isn't working then your handset is not correctly configured to receive them.

All internet based phones can access the net without being connected to a Wi-Fi hotspot, even if they do have to fall back to GPRS to do so.
The fact you can't connect to the net using GPRS or receive MMS confirms that your handset is not correctly configured.

Post back who your service provider is, along with whether you are contract or PAYG and I'll let you know what the access details are for internet/MMS usage.

did it not come with a user manual?
  • Hi all - thanks for your advice, managed to reset it and all it it worked perfectly. The pictures problem was due to the other phone being faulty, not mine.

    Cheers :)
