Me and OH run a business which supplies and fits kitchens.
Last week we fitted a kitchen for a lady and on the Friday evening she rang - the conversation went something like this:
Her (shouting): I have just had a kitchen fitted and there is a leak under the sink!
Me: I am very sorry to hear that - I will get someone out to see to it straight away - this sometimes happens when the sink has just been plumbed in, but it is easily rectified - how bad is it - do you think the water needs to be turned off?
Her (still shouting): NO I cant turn the water off! it is leaking onto a cloth!
Me: So the cloth is containing the water?
Her (shouting): YES!!!
Me: OK, I can get someone round at around 8pm? (it is 5pm then)
Her (screaming now): NO!!!! I am going out tonight!!!!
Me: OK, I am sorry I can't get anyone out much sooner than that - I might be able to get someone there for around 7?
Her (still screaming): NO!!! I am going out in a minute! this should not have happened, this is ridiculous!!!
Me: I am really sorry, when will it be convenient for someone to come?
Her: WEDNESDAY AT 9AM!!!!
Me: OK, I will send someone on Wednesday at 9am. Again I am very sorry.
So OH went round at 9am this morning and sorted it out and she had a massive go at him!
Then she sent me an email saying how pleased she was with the kitchen and could we please give her a quote for a loft conversion...

There are loads of nutter customers out there
We had a lady last year called up to complain the chocolate bar she ordered was too minty & could we send her one that was less minty, for free.
Another one emailed over & over that the slippers she bought were not suitable, as she wanted ones like mary jane had bought.
The customer could not tell us her order number, the date she ordered or if mary jane had bought hers from our company.
As we couldn't trace the customer on our system we couldn't help her as non of here detials were on our database. She didn't like this & demanded we put her through to trading standards immediately:mad:
I thought this may have been a wind up but later found out she ordered from a competitor of ours. She did keep emailing though.

Worked in retail once and had a customer complain we had no tops of a particular design in her size (was a clearance shop, didn't always receive full stock sizes).... ranted and screamed she'd never be back. The next day she spent over £200 and couldn't have been nicer!
Photo studio- had a lady complain that the person in the photos was not her (clearly was) but it was okay, the photo had a better figure than she did, so she'd buy everything!0 -

Make sure that if you do quote her for the loft that you add a bit extra as payment for the hassle that may arise (but don't tell her this, obviously!) If she's going to be potentially awqward again then you might as well make some extra cash out of her for the priviledge! No trees were killed to send this message, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced. - Neil deGrasse Tyson (@neiltyson)0 -
