Just knew we couldn't stay on the cheapest tariff forever! Scottish and Southern, which incorporates Atlantic, have announced they will announce their new price rises next month,to take effect in January, after promising no more rises this year.Thankfully my promised rebate is due before xmas so i shall see just how it compares after that.

Having got lots of people changed over to them, what is the bettting they will turn out to be the most expensive come the New Year.................

Looking at a table on another site thrie overall traxk record is quite good, so I'm not jumping up and down and biting my nails.I like their early announcement too. In some ways it might discomfort the other players and possibly force moves from them to reduce prices quickly. If they go too far and then they might be making low profts and it would be inexpedient to raisse them again in a falling market, too little then they stand to lose to SSE and others that have guessed right.

A cynic might say that they are making an announcement next month, before the wholesale prices start to fall, although their past record has been fairly good.
 Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:
  • Froglet: Where did you hear this from? I'm switching to Atlantic at the moment. I don't see any 'News' section on their website.

Been happy with Atlantic so far but if they do raise prices, with wholesale gas prices falling, I will be looking for another supplier.

Richard III. I don't want to pre-empt Froglet's reply but here is an article about it.

I actually read it on Ceefax or Teletext, not sure which. The article is very interesting and makes for a good, easy comparison over the last few years.I am not always good at making the right decision but in this case, choosing Atlantic i have been! If they want to keep all their new customers it will be in their best interest to keep their price rise as small as possible, now that people are much more clued up about switching.
  • I had just instigated a switch from npower to Atlantic a day or two before the "announcement".

I think I'll still stick with the transfer - npower have gone from cheapest to most expensive, overnight, so staying with them isn't going to help me any.
