Online Payments with my card

Options
Hey all,

Could do with some advice here because my bank certainly cannot explain what the problem is!

Basically when i purchase things online, wether it be from well known sites such as Amazon,Ebuyer,Game....and what have you...my payment to them gets declined!

I've phoned my bank up several times about it asking why its getting declined because i do have the money in the account and all my details are correct and i get the same comment from them everytime "Its an error on our side sir and we will sort it for you now"

They do sort if...but as soon as i try and purchase something else another time my payment will get declined again and i have to phone them up...its just getting stupid!

The funny thing is though,If i go through my PayPal account (which is linked to this card) and and pay someone/some company that way the payment never gets declined....its only when i pay them direct from my card it gets declined.

Id just pay through PayPal evertime if i could to save all the hastle but the thing is allot of sites don't always accept PayPal and i don't see why i should have to use PayPal anyway when its clearly a bank problem..yet they cant give me a good reason to why it does it!

Appreciate any help :)

Thanks

Why not apply for another credit card? (eg Paypal Mastercard which pays up to 2% 'cashback' and free £20).

TBH, the bank have admitted it is an error on their part. As to what it is well no one but your bank is likely to know.

If it is a credit card, then you it could be triggering the system as part of their fraud protection. My Natwest credit card gets refused every other time I use it in a shop it seems.

If it's a debit card, then I think it is unlikely to be that. My Natwest maestro used to be refused but only at one site for purchasing film tickets, every other site worked fine.

If a debit card, you could ask your bank to re-issue you with a new card and see if that makes a difference

At the end of the day, if it is a debit card, then failing everything else you either continue to put up with it, or you move or threaten to move to a different bank unless it is sorted ASAP. If it's a credit card, then apply for another card if possible and cancel the card that is causing you issues.
