I have been trying to ring the Tax Credits office for 3 weeks only to be told every time that there is a very high volume of calls please ring back at another time or all our staff are extremely busy ring back I keep doing this over and over again I am getting so frustrated with the whole thing. I need to sort my change of circumstances out with them. What should I do next????? I have also wrote to them and sent an email but no response at all. I am officially unemployed as from 1 September as I've just been made redundant. Like lots of people I am a single parent trying to make ends meet. The number I am ringing is an 0845 one which is very costly indeed. Apparantly if you dont let them know a month before your circumstances change they fine you £300. mmm dont think so.........can anyone advice me futher please I'm really angry

they cannot update your work details in advance, you would need to inform them when you stop working, and no there is no £300 fine and no you dont have to tell them a month in advance, I think you may of got that the wrong way round, think they say inform them within 1 month of the change. There is no facility to email tax credits you can only do it by post or phone, unfortunately with less staff and more claims the helpline seems to be really difficult to get through to lately, dunno what the goverment are gonna do about it, nothing im sure0
