Cheap Paid For Blog Hosting

Options
Hello,

I want to start a blog and I want to have it properly hosted rather than using blogger. Can anyone recommend a good host. I have my domain with fast hosts but I was hoping for something cheaper than £10+ a month.

Thanks

Clive

You can try one.com, someone I used to work with has a hosting account with them, was stupid cheap about £1.99 per month / per year.

This isn't a review of the company, but more of a history of them. They're a well established hosting provider. They are guilty of overselling with low prices and quoting "unlimited" everything, however if they manage their service properly load isn't an issue.

EDIT - Also, I just noticed how many employees it has, with that many customers if it's true, they most likely have a VERY good setup with little to no problems. With only a small base of staff, you would still get the "personal" feel that the big hosters like 1&1 lack.

    One.com

One.com is an innovative supplier of web hosting services. One.com (B-one) was established in 2002 in Denmark and is today one of the leading companies in Europe within the provision of domain names and sales of web hosting services.

Since the foundation of One.com (B-one) in 2002 by Jacob Jensen, One.com has experienced constant growth and has, today, more than 325,000 customers in 149 countries and handles more than 48,000,000 e-mails and 5,500,000,000 web page queries every month. (January, 2007)
Today, One.com has 70 employees, a healthy, strong financial position and is fully geared to meeting the potentials and challenges of the future.

Thank you for the replies. I have just read on someone's blog that they recommend Bluehost. They seem somewhere inbetween but I can't see the problem with trying one.com and ditching them if it doesn't work out - I notice on fast hosts you can transfer your blog posts so I could do that if it went fruit shaped.

Andy I've been warned off 1&1 in the past by a web developer, can't remember exactly why, perhaps it was the service.

    Just found this site:

    http://webhostinggeeks.com/

Bluehost makes the top 10 but iPage at $3.50 a month looks the best buy. Just need to check it will deal with Wordpress alright...

1&1 is a bit of a weird company.

I tend to browse webhostingtalk.com, you will be able to find all sorts of web hosting offers there with expert advice to find out what sort of requirements you should be looking for.

My domain is hosted with fasthosts, but I own it. I self-host my website on my home PC. Will be rebuilding it when I buy a rackmount server for my home setup :D

Why don't you get a free Wordpress blog?
    http://wordpress.com/

Since it's more likely you'll set up Wordpress on your server this is quicker and you get a http://<username>.wordpress.com address.

I'm by no means an expert but just wanted to chip in with my +1 for one.com.

I recently used their £9 for a year offer to buy my first domain and build the site. As I mentioned, I'm no expert but they've done everything I've needed/wanted from them including good support.
