She is now laid to rest in a lovely planter in the garden with a rhododendron bush & when I look at it I think of her. I know she gone & we have another pup now but it's a nice way to remember her. I would not want them in the house though.

Isn't it strange how we are all so different? - We have our dog's ashes in our bedroom, and I could not bare to put her out in the garden... and others, like yourself, have them in the garden and wouldn't want them in the house at all

We have always had our dogs individually cremated and have all the little urns and caskets in a bookcase in our lounge. I haven't scattered any of them as then they will truely be gone :(.

It has always been my intention to have them mixed in with my ashes when I go - however, the caskets are now into double figures and I'm starting to wonder quite what to request is done with all the ashes - there's going to be rather a lot of it :o!

  • A friend of mine passed away a year ago, just shortly after his dog. (They were both cremated) ... and recently his wife managed to go back to a centre where they used to go for respite care. The lady there said she would arrange a little service and a blessing if she wanted to scatter his ashes ... my friend then said, "oh, and I will be bringing the dog, too", to which, this lady said, "ooooh no, sorry, I'm afraid for health and hygiene reasons, we can't take dogs here," and they both collapsed with laughter when my friend explained that no, she was actually taking the dog's ashes to be scattered at the same time as "his Dad's ashes" ..... !!

    Awwwww ... !!

    Frugalista,
Have you thought about all the ashes(icluding yours if you wanted) being turned into a diamond and then placed in jewellery. It is expensive but if everyones ashes were included it would be a lasting memento of your life with your animals!
