Sorry I was at work, so couldn't give a detailed answer.
Basically, you do not have to provide them any details.
They should not even be contacting you, if they are unsure you are the person they should even be talking to you. If they are requesting information its because they do not have it, not because of data protection.
The next step is to write to them with another prove it letter, and tag in you will not be supplying any personal information, of any description as you are not required to do so. Furthermore if they are unsure you are the debtor then they should not be making any contact to you with any details anyway.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

No, don't go down this route. This will put you in the frame of having to provide the info to prove your ID, which is what you don't want to do. Basically you need to close out the 'prove it' path.miss_marsters wrote: »thank you both for the advice, i'll try the CCA route and see if they admit to having nothing
Dear Westcott,
In response to our letter of <date> requesting your proof of a debt of £<amount> which you allege we owe, you have requested previous addresses. There is no obligation for us to provide you with any information whatsoever and your request is declined.
Should you wish to continue with your allegations, you should provide your proof of the debt as we requested. Until and unless you do this, we will not spend further time on this matter.
Yours Respectfully

you could just pay the money and be done with it. i know it's not helpful, but if you owe money to people, of course they're going to pester you.0

Hi Kayleigh
So lets put this in perspective.....
You have asked them to prove that you owe the debt (which you're entitled to do).
They have then written back asking you to do their job for them and provide them with the information they should be providing you? :rotfl:
I won't say what my answer to that would be!
I think DVardysShadow's letter suggestion is perfect for now and definately delete post #10. These companies lurk on these boards too and may use it to identify you.LBM & Debt July 2010 [STRIKE]£19,000[/STRIKE] now - £11,619.60 Long Haul Supporter #247
