Hiya all
I'm thinking about getting a Mr Site website in a box. Has anyone used this product or has any comments about it? Any comments are most welcome.
Cheers

The Mr Site websites don't look spectacular but great value for money. If I was piloting something I'd go for it and if it took off then probably hire a webdesigner.0

Thanks for that. Yes, I wory that they are a bit same-y and formulaic. Not too much into about t&c's that I can find either. Eg if you decide to go with someone else is it easy to move your domain name or are you tied in for a whole year...?0

I would strongly suggest checking how easy transfering would be.0

Transferring isn't a problem, certainly no more difficult or costly than moving from someone else. i have a site as do some of my mates, and for what we want....an online presence, email addresses to go with it etc...its well worth the money....I generate my work from business cards (£1.99 for 500 from vistaprint) that I hand out when I meet people or enclose if I do a mailshot, or word of mouth....then direct people to the site for more information.
As regards the sites being simple and "samey" who knows? unless they want to surf every site in the Mr Site catalogue, its only people who want to visit your site you're interested in....the chances of someone coming to your site unless you pointed them there in the first place either through advertising or web search and finding what you offer (services etc) means they are not likely to visit many other sites of the same ilk...I mean how many people use this forum because they found it during a web search....I would guess that 85% of people here, are on the site through word of mouth , exposure in the other media, but unlikely someone searching for bargains etc in google.
I suppose the point I'm making is, the web site is your shop window....tell people its there, how to get to it and they wont be looking at any other sites to compare the "shop window" thats on display....if someone looks at your car and says "thats a nice car", does that mean they dont like it really....after all there's another 100,000 identical ones on the road....or "you have a lovely house"....yeah you and millions of others!
Be realistic about what you want from it....I see it as a window or a door to what YOU have to offer....and so what if its the same template that someone else has used?...they'll only know if they visit that site....and the chances are?I'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j
Those who can do, those who can't, come to me for lessons:cool:0 -
Thanks Torby,
I appreciate your points, and actually agree with you. However, I heard about Mr Site because many of the other vendors in my field are using the product. Therefore if you search for the topic I am involved with, as it is quite a specialised area, many of the sites that appear are from Mr Site! Most of the sites also have a link swap, so the same sites crop up again and again. I suppose I'll just have to be brave and tweak things a bit if I go down that route. LOL!

thanks beady for asking this question, i am in two minds to get this too
it looks value for money and when you take a look at their site under value customers non of the site look the same and they are all far from ordinary... still not totally conviced though :rotfl: 0
