Mothercare had made an error in marking down a child's carseat from £119 to £9. I recognised this must have been incorrect but nevertheless proceeded to purchase the item, within minutes I had received a confirmation email. 24hrs later another email informs me that the order has been cancelled stating the item is no longer available, and a refund will be made.
Do I have any rights to demand that they supply at the advertised price?

    No, you do not.

You have offered to buy the item.

They have decided not to accept your offer.

    End of story.

No, it helps if you search the forum for similar questions because this one comes up quite alot.

The reason is that because mistakes happen and normally at a till the operator has the chance to spot a mistake and rectify and automated system doesn't so the contract is not normally formed until dispatch which then gives the company the chance to notice their mistakes.
The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
