PCI Modem in new Dell

Had a PCI DSL modem in my old PC but just got a new Dell Dimension 3100 and the PCI card is too big (tall?). This means it slots into the motherboard fine but the metal bracket bit is a) too tall and so you can't put the case cover back on b) houses the socket for the phone line lead which is right at the edge of the case and so is unaccessible. Do these boxes only take different size PCI cards? What's a guy to do, I can't get on my web with my new pooter!
P.S. All the other PCI DSL modems I've seen online seem to be of a similar size to the one I alreay have

Go Dell Go Dell Go Dell.
You will most likely have to buy a 'special' Dell DSL PCI modem for £79.99.
Hence Dell may seem like a good deal but really there just a pain in the @ss.0 -
Can't you just buy a USB modem instead? Or a modem/router.0

Couldn't find the Dell PCI DSL modems on the site anywhere

The USB ones seem to work ok, not my choice of hardware but should deffo do the job in hand.

Get a router, much more secure than a broadband modem.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

All you actually need to do is a search for a low profile pci modem card
or any low profile card for your computer.
the other word commonly used is riser card
most manufactures make low profile cards
