Hello shoppers
Does anyone think it would be a good idea to share what special offers will make up their meal plans each week?
Personally I have reduced our grocery budget from £120 to £60 (to reduce debts) and would find it useful to know what special offers peeps are taking advantage off.
Not sure if this will take off or not but I've been looking around and to get me through the week so far I will be;
*stocking up on morrisons 50p for 4 pints milk
*stocking up on Aldis 39p salads (then stocking up on the new offer when it starts next week)
*buying a whole chicken £4 from Sainsburys(this will be two main meals plus one lunch meal)
*Sainsburys also have TTD cheese at £3.65/400g or 2 for £4 which looks good to me.
Maybe we could split into categories of meat/dairy/f&v etc..?
Suppose it doesn't have to be a special offer just good stuff to make a family meal..For example I may also buy Lidl chorizo for a pasta meal.
Where to stock up on essentials like beans/toms/eggs/flour could also be useful?
I could do with more meat offers and also vegetarian (for DD) to complete next weeks plan.
so.....
does anyone want to contribute/join in?

Good Idea although bargains are all on here under different shops titles if you know what I mean.
If we listed for example:
Asda so and so £1
Co Op so and so £2 etc etc
People would have to trawl through the lists just to get to the shops that they shop at (if that makes sense?)
As far as menues and meal planning, there are an awful lot of threads about this already on here and on the old fashioned money saving boards.
Sorry to put a bit of a dampner on your idea, I am not being critical as its a great idea, just my opinion

HI Sarah
Yes I see your point
Has anyone seen any chickens which are better value than the sainsburys ones?

My local Tesco were doing their meat packs/chickens 4 for £10, when they usually offer 3 for £10.
Update 28/08 been in this morning and they are back to 3 for £10.For myself I am an optimist - there does not seem to be much use being anything else.

i guess its not realy a proper soup, but its a cheaper way of what my mum used to do with tin toms, she simply added a tin of chopped tomatoes to a tin of tomato soup to add more texture, but all i do realy is heat up a tin of chopped tomatoes and add either a veggie stock cube or herbs and any leftover veg ie onions, garlic and carrots...but if im really skint i just add a teaspoon of vegetarian gravy granules to a heated up tin of tomatoes....its amazing the things you come up with when the cupboards are bare !!!0 -
Thanx, sounds nice, tbh even eating the tomatoes straight from the tin is delicious to me ;-)i guess its not realy a proper soup, but its a cheaper way of what my mum used to do with tin toms, she simply added a tin of chopped tomatoes to a tin of tomato soup to add more texture, but all i do realy is heat up a tin of chopped tomatoes and add either a veggie stock cube or herbs and any leftover veg ie onions, garlic and carrots...but if im really skint i just add a teaspoon of vegetarian gravy granules to a heated up tin of tomatoes....its amazing the things you come up with when the cupboards are bare !!!
