hi all i have a problem. i have a car currently insured its a 2.5 v6 four years no claims and i paid 570 annual. i do have a sp30 and 1 accident in the last 4 years i was right off my fault no other parties. i need to get another cheap run around so i can get to places where i dont take my proper car and is also alot more economical 1.4. but am finding it very expensive why ? they saying i cant use my no claims bonus on the car i want to buy as its used on my current car. can anyone please help as i was made redundant and dont want to drive my v6 but dont want to get rid off her either. i do have a driveway but i wanted the v6 as my sunday car or just now and then. so if anyone could kindly advise what the best way around my situation is thanks in advance

1 accident in the last 4 years
When exactly was it.
Most companies need details of accidents in the last 3 years (although it can vary so you need to read the question being asked rather than assume).
SP30 is not a big deal.but am finding it very expensive why ?
Well insurance has gone up a lot. One reason is due to a big increase in personal injury claims. Suffice to say it's gone up for everyone across the boards.
Second reason is that you cannot use you no claim twice although some companies will let you "mirror" you current NCD.
Have you asked your currently insurer if you can mirror the NCD onto another car?dont want to drive my v6 but dont want to get rid off her either
Could you transfer the current insurance to the new car and get "laid up" cover for the v6?i do have a driveway but i wanted the v6 as my sunday car or just now and then.
If you want the luxury of driving both, you'll have to pay for it.
Start by asking your existing insurer if they will mirror the NCD.
If they won't they ask for cancellation costs and look at getting 2 new policies (or one policy for 2 cars) with another insurer.
If you can't afford this then you will have to rethink driving both for the time being.0 -
Hi, you should be able to get your NCB 'mirrored' on another car if you are the 'sole' user on both cars. If you need additional drivers the best you can probably hope for is a 'second car' discount.0

thanks i have tried the current insurer way to high even with it mirrored?? not sure how they work that out. any other company that anyone know of that will mirror my no claims0

Hi, I have had my NCB 'mirrored' by Admiral/Elephant, MoreThan and although not 'officially' mirrored Churchill gave me a second car discount equivalent to it being mirrored.0

You could always try a high st broker.
As they deal with insurance every day, they may well know which companies would help with your situation.
Might save you some leg work.0
