Product demo ruined my hair - Where do I stand

Product reps in a department store used straighteners on a strand of my curly hair to demonstrate how great they were. Since then the strand will not curl again!!! - Glad I didn't let the demo continue.
Where do I stand? I didn't purchase the product, but by my allowing them to use the product on me; does that mean I've agreed to let them do what they want? They have not replied to my email of complaint.
Any ideas?
From curly (...apart from one bit)

Is this for real? What were you expecting to happen to your curly hair if a hair straightener was used on it? Even if you had bought the straighteners you wouldn't have any grounds for complaint, as they have done what they are designed to do. I also don't think you can claim any damages for having a strand of hair that is reluctant to curl anymore."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

If you didn't want it straight why did you let them straighten it ?
Cut the straight bit off and get on with your life all curly again.
Alternately you can sue for the obvious severe distress this has caused you. I happen to know a very good barrister who I am sure will take up your case, unfortunately it wont be no win no fee !"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

I suspect the main idea that people will come up with is to move on with your life and not allow other people to do 'product demos' on any part of your body again, if you're not happy with the excellent results they provide0 -
May be a troll but it made me laugh anyway.0

This hilarious. I once had a shower and it made me wet what can I do. Can I claim compensation from the shower manufacturer and Southern water?0

This has got to be a wind-up? Or a very dense poster. Straighteners can't permanently straighten hair. Perhaps she just needs to wash it!"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

You beat me to it.
OP wash your hair.
I expect when they did this to your hair they muttered that there were not responsible in any way shape and form....

I had a 'permanent' straightening done once, it was brilliant. It's a Japanese system and takes hours to do but it lasted perfectly for months and months (also very expensive, which is why I've only had it the once).
Tell me name of the ordinary straighteners that can do that and I'll go buy a set now!Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j

Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.0
