Totally get where you're coming from, Naillig 51 and melandtony, times are tough and we're all being very British and stiff upper lip about it.
However, (though I appreciate it might not be where you're at right now), these are a good deal and with what's on offer, there's more scope than usual to stretch them. A chicken can make a meal or two, then you can boil it up and make stock for a lovely nourishing soup, and then feed any residue meat to any dogs you might own. You can make some lovely gravy with any steak trimmings to liven up bangers and mash, and the fact there's cheese as a pudding option opens a wealth of possibilities for meals with cheese as the protein element.
HTH someone.

Blimey, i thought these threads were for us that don''t have much money !
I could never afford to spend £60 in M&S on food just like that - i barely have £15 to buy all my shopping for the week and that includes toiletries and everything else !
If you buy these in bulk though then you save a minimum of 40% off the price of the items individually. I realise that on your budget this seems like an extravagence but this board is about all money savers and so for a family of 4 (and I have the littlest appetite of all!! ) then this gives me a welcome break from cooking sometimes.
I will be popping along tomorrow - the paella is always a favourite and the chicken is always really good value.Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0 -
can any of the puddings be frozen except the apple pie and ice cream?0

We've got friends coming over this weekend so I might be tempted to go and get 6 lots - we'd have a good selection of food and plenty of wine to keep us going. That Froglet Shiraz is quite a nice easy red too (hic)!0

Bethansmum, the profiterole stack can be frozen. I've bought this on the Dine in deal before and frozen it for another time.0

Apparently the 25% off when you buy 6 bottles of wine and champagne also applies when you buy 6 bottles of own brand spirits. Its not advertised and not even many staff know as it's a big profit loser. Staff member told me this although haven't tried it as already have a cupboard full of booze collected over the years!0

Ok, let me check I've got this right : Buy 6 of the meal deals, pick the most expensive wine (say £6.99) get 6 x 6.99 = £41.94 minus 25% discount = £10.49
So therefore 6 X meal deals = £60 - wine discount = £49.51.
Is this right?
So the more expensive the wine the more you save ie if the wine was 8.99 then the discount would be 25 % of 6x8.99 = 13.84 making six meal deals just over £46.
Can anyone confirm the wine prices?0 -

That's correct -Sorry don't know wine prices - maybe someone that's been today might let us know? Oh, and does anyone know what kind of steak is on offer?

Just remember, you don't have to buy 6 meal deals to get the 25% off wine. For example you can just buy one deal + a minimum of 5 other bottles (or any other combination) as long as you have six or more bottles in total you will get 25% off the wine. I find it's a great way to stock up on the posh wine that I like but am too stingy to buy normally!0
