Cleaning wooden doors for painting

Hi everyone,
i`m hoping that someone has some advice for me, i have two doors which i am going to have to paint, door number one is an unsealed clear pine door that has been spattered with blood which has dried in the grain. I`ve tried a mixture of things to remove the blood, white spirit, meths, and a mix of both with vinegar and linseed oil added. Nothing will shift it and i`m left with a patchy door that i need to remove the oil from to allow the paint to take.
Door number two has been treated with wax, i need to remove this to allow me to paint it to match the other door.
Does anyone have any suggestions please?
So far i`ve been told to wipe down both doors with white spirit, allow to dry and then paint - this sounds too easy. I`m going to start this very soon unless someone has a better idea, i`m hoping that i don`t need two more new doors as they`ve not been hung for very long
Thanks
SD

I use sugar soap to clean any paintwork before i paint it.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Make sure they are sanded down first! Then apply a primer/undercoat and a couple of coats of your chosen colour suitable for wood. Make sure you lightly sande between coats.0

I`ve just washed door number one down with hot soapy water and allowed it to dry in the sun and 5 mins ago i`ve wiped the whole door down with white spirit, still not sure about the part thats oiled though. I`ll sand the surface lightly as soon as it seems dry enough and then how long should i leave it before applying primer?
Thanks

After sanding, wipe down with slightly damp cloth, let it dry then undercoat prime.0
