Which cable from PC to HDTV ??

Does anyone know what type of cable I need to buy to be able to connect my PC to my new Sony Bravia TV with HDMI ???

Does your PC have TV out?

You need a DVI to HDMI cable (assuming your graphics card has DVI out), if your TV has a VGA port you could use this also but as its analogue the quality will likley be not as good.

DVI does not carry sound so you'll also need to make provision for this (connect your sound card to your AMP, or does your TV have audio in?).

If you've already got a DVI cable to connect to your PC screen then Maplin sell DVI to HDMI convertors which are a lot cheaper than a new cable.

However it's unlikely that you'll be able to get digital sound from your PC to TV though I'll be happy if proven wrong

Thankyou to everyone for taking the time to respond. It has been a great help. I am usually good with technical stuff but sometimes I get snowed under trying to do everything myself so every now and then I just have to yell for 'help'.

I will have to get my head round the back of the tv and see just what there is there, or get out the manual.

It is not the back of the TV that you should be looking at, the PC is more important regarding connectivity.
