Hi
Have computer windows 98se.
On the display properties, the options are.
640x480
800x600
1024x768
1152x864
1280x960
1280x1024
Each of the above are in 256 color, true color(24bit), or 16 bit high color.
Which is the best setting to have?
At the moment its on high color(16bit) 800x600.
thanks

You set it to whatever the optimum resolution of your monitor is (normally the highest setting).Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0

try 24-bit colour (best on the list) and 1280 x 1024 (pretty standard for non-widescreen LCDs)
If your eyesight isn't up to 1280x1024 strongly suggest hopping into control panel > acessability options to make text etc bigger the proper way (and keep video/pictures etc high definition and sharp)... or you can go the default easy way of turning the resolution down which makes everything big ang blurry
if you set it to something that makes your monitor go blank wait for 20 secs without clicking anything and it'll automatically reset to what you had before0 -
Hi
Have computer windows 98se.
Not only are accessibility features better in later versions of Windows (if you need them) but the current operating system you are running is almost 12 years old and is ridiculously insecure. I highly suggest you upgrade. If my post helped you in anyway, please hit the "Thanks" button! Please note any advice I give is followed at your own risk!0 -

Tried this and my computer went into error code
MPR EXE - protection fault.
Changed to true color(24 bit) 88x600
ON THE INTERNET, THE PAGE IS SLIGHTLY LARGER THAN THE 19" SCREEN, THEREFORE I HAVE TO SCROLL ACROSS THE PAGE TO SEE IT ALL.
HOW DO YOU OVERCOME THIS SO THE PAGE FITS ALL INTO THE SCREEN ?
CHEERS0 -
800x600 is a pretty low resolution these days and a lot of websites are going to force you into horizontal scrolling if you stick with it.
Your only solution is to increase the screen resolution to something fit for the 21st century. If the PC can't do that on Windows 98 consider installing Ubuntu instead - that will make best use of old hardware and maybe will. Try running it as a live cd first if the machine can boot from CD.0 -
Start by setting the colour depth to 16 bit while staying at 800x600, once that setting has been accepted then push the resolution to 1024x768.
If that is accepted then increase to 1280x1024 (which is what your 19" monitor is likely to want to see).Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0
