Call the garage and ask them to explain. Once you have their explanation you can go from there.

why has a pug got an inline ford fuel filter??

Because the garage bodged it in there rather than fitting a proper Peugeot one that would actually mount properly.
  • I suspect the car already had this type of fuel filter so the garage has replaced like for like, possibly the original filter housing leaks or something.
Not trying to excuse them, if they needed to put this type of filter in then the least they could have done is wrapped it in something to stop it rubbing and cable tied it securely in place.
  • even so, it should have been brought to the attention of the owner that it was non standard and incorrectly fitted

Thats to show which way round to fit the filter, ie direction of flow.

I would go back and ask them about it, not with guns blazing though, that will just get them all defensive.

Yeah I know, but was having a moment trying to see the bolt referred to and my eyes were continually drawn to them :)

Kin ell. Usually I'd give a "well in 8 weeks anything could've happened" but in your case that's definitely wrong and its shoddy work. I suppose either the proper filter wasn't available or they wouldn't wait for one. It may be a case of using a universal one to get the car done in the time they said but it needs putting right.
