Short Term Savings Advice

Hi

I have 30k which I would like to place towards my mortgage. The money will be available from December 2010 and my mortgage is up for renewal September 2011. What can I do to either invest or best option to save for this short term?

I do have First Direct and HSBC Savings, but not sure either of these are the best option for this amount, although both are already active.

The money will be held in Barclays Executors account when available.

As you're looking at almost exactly a year, I'd opt for whatever instant access account is offering the best rate at the moment. ING Direct and the AA were both offering accounts that paid more than IF last time I checked.

That said, the 2.5% IF are paying at the moment isn't horrendous compared to the competition and I have any savings not held in an ISA with them as I find them to be pretty flexible, all things considered.
