Erasmus Scheme - Insurance

Hi
I have just arrange travel insurance for my daughter who is going to Turkey under the Erasmus scheme and wanted to caution others.
I have discovered that the main insurances that are annual multi/single only cover a maximum stay of 30/42 days so if you stay (and Erasmus tend to be longer) over that time you are not covered!

You can purchase cover for long stay trips - have a look on google for backpackers insurance as this provides cover for various periods.
Other alternative is to ask the Uni as they should have a list of providers that will issue cover for Erasmus trips.0 -
Backpackers insurance DOES NOT cover long stays of over 30/42 days in one country.(also Repatriation is not necessarily covered)
I found that the most comprehensive one was Sta travel, and slightly cheaper than the uni's.Greyer by the minute - Older by the hour - Wiser by the day0 -

Backpackers does cover trips of over 30/42 days, you can buy back packers insurance for trips of upto 18 months or sometimes more.
It is rare for a back packer policy to not include medical repatriation
Like any insurance product the cover can vary from company to company so it's best to check each policy to ensure it is appropriate..0
