I'm a bit tempted by the idea of going on "A place in the sun" for exactly this reason! Saw one recently where a woman had just got a new job in England and her daughter had got into an excellent local school but "we just think living in Italy would give us a better quality of life"!0 -

Cue visits to a few basic houses in rainy MK, followed by sun, sea and sangria on the terrace in Italy, with some trips to luscious stone villas thrown in. Decision? Mmm yes, we really need to be near family in MK. But thanks for the short holiday in the sun.…It's fairly certain that the researchers for that programme used personality profiling to locate those least likely to take advice. Without the headstrong idiots, 'Property Ladder' would have been far less 'entertaining.' Only mad HPI saved the majority of them and rescued the programme from being car crash TV.
Unfortunately, reality isn't always so funny.
…
Although I love and actively search out quality TV, I also love the early stages of the heavily manipulated xFactor shows etc, as I desperately need some laughs in my life at the moment. Once they get ‘serious’ about talent (which is debateable anyway) I lose interest. Just my weird sense of humour I’m afraid.
Overall, I’m surprised that the OP has got away so lightly with his blind prejudice against women and DIYers in general.Lady diyers generally do not naturally have manual skills and i shrink in horror when i see them using power tools.0 -
