In an ideal world, that would be the case. sometimes, Sh*t happens, and there is nothing that can be done. People sometimes expect too much, but that is probably the fault of the companies advertising their services as being the best thing since sliced bread. they aren't, and they don't really give a damn about it.Don't bother trying to sue me - I've got no money!0

Two points first;
1/ The car has been off the road for 3 weeks, not due to the windscreen being broken, but because without a replacement, I was unable to MOT and Tax the car.
2/ Parts availability was never the issue since the screen is available within 48 hours anywhere in the UK. Just not at a price they wanted to pay. There is no justification for this to delay a replacement. If the screen had not been available then, yes I wouldn't have been too chuffed, but I would have accepted the situation.
Now to the good news. They have finally agreed to let Renault replace the screen and foot the entire bill (excess excepted).
By messing around like this they have turned a 3 day job into one lasting a month. While not entirely happy with this, I'm just releived that its over.
A few things mentioned on this thread along with my own experiences as advice to others in this situation.
Never get stroppy with the call handler. Keep your cool no matter what sort of idiot you end up with. If they clearly have no clue, hang up and ring back. An idiot call handler will more than likely only put you through to an idiot Supervisor. Find one that at least understands/empathises with your situation.
If they are still unable to help.... then ask for a supervisor. At this stage once more be insistant without being unreasonable or losing your temper. As with a CH, they will look for any excuse not to help or worse still to terminate the call.
Once you get a Supervisor that understands/empathises with you you are nearly there. GET THEIR NAME. And keep on their case.
Basically.... never lose your temper.
Never be unreasonable or threatening.
Know exactly what you are and are not entitled to.
