Replacement of car 'master key'

Hi everyone,

Please could I ask for your advice about something I know nothing about.

I have lost the remote control key for our car. Could you give me any idea of how much I should be prepared to pay and where to go for a replacement. (It is a Citroen Berlingo).

You can go to most auto locksmiths they will be able to cut and code a new remote key to your vehicle. If you have the immobiliser code for the van it will be cheaper although you can apply for your code from Citroes and they will charge you £25 for a remote key depending on year you will be looking at £120-£170 fully cut and coded.

Ford wanted to charge me £180 for a new remote locking key. We ended up going with a non remote locking key from our local Shoe Repair/Keycutting place and they were able to clone the transponder chip from the existing key - total price £30.

Try ringing your local locksmiths and seeing if they can code the remote ones as well?
