Dhl international delivery rip off

we have recently sent a parcel to argentina to family on arrival that end they want to charge $180 they charged £65 for orginal cost of sending they said this was custom charges considering the cost of goods inside was £140 this seemed a bit steep and some of the items were 2nd hand
on calling argentina they were extreamly rude and after a while sent an invoice showing cost which was for numerous other things other than customs
after talking to uk they blamed argentina and vioce versa in the end we were feed up argueing about it and thoght we would pay but when we contacted them they said they were charging $50 more to redeliver and if the wanted to check the parcel(ie open to see all inside) while courier waited they would charge $60 more
since this i have heard many horror stories of dhl in argentina as well as some other areas of the world
i will never use again and advise anyone else to go else where
