Loft ladder and hatch

Options
I have had a quote for a new loft hatch (we don't have one) with a deluxe loft ladder attached.

We have a hole for the hatch with the wodden outside to it (sorry not sure of technical term) and the hole is about half a metre square so does not need altering.

I am under the impression that the deluxe loft ladder is one that comes out and goes back in without us pulling and pushing it with a pole.

The quote is £195 materials and labour.

Is it fair?

Thanks!

Sounds like a very fair price to me. :)
  • Firstly, this seems like an excellent price.

Also I'd be careful you've interpreted the deluxe ladder correctly, I suspect it will be a good quality ladder, but still with a pole. Pls correct me if wrong!

    Thanks.

I'll double check my understanding of deluxe, on the quote it is called an '3 section easy stow'

The carpenter is one that fixed our gate after a delivery guy broke it, so I have seen his work (excellent) but haven't seen his prices so wasn't sure what to expect.

I think i'll call him tomorrow to book him in.

Thank you so much! Peace of mind is a valuable thing.
  • I know you are probably ringing the chap today, but we have just had this done.

It was a new hatch (needed new wider hole cutting out) with a wooden ladder attached to the hatch door meaning no clearance is needed to swing the ladder into the loft (behind the hatch)

We open the hatch with a pole and then I can pull the ladder down manually as it is in 3 sections folded back on itself.

Very sturdy thing, cost £220 for everything.
